Artistic Ambassador Competition
Connecting outstanding college musicians with Minnesota communities
The Artistic Ambassador Competition honors excellence in solo and duo performance at the college level. MMTA believes that everyone should have access to high quality, live music performances. The Artistic Ambassador Competition will connect outstanding college musicians with Minnesota communities.
All solo and duo college instrumentalists and vocalists residing in Minnesota are eligible to audition. Applicants prepare a 15-minute program representing any combination of musical styles or periods. Selected Ambassadors receive a cash award and participate in a concert tour of deserving Minnesota communities.
Eligibility: Open to all college music students residing in Minnesota. All instruments and voice are eligible to compete.
Awards and Winners Recital Tour: Each selected performer will receive $600 in prize money and participate in a concert tour of Bemidji on April 12-13.
Travel expenses and lodging will be provided by MMTA.
Repertoire Requirements:
- Students must offer a program of at least 15 minutes in length.
- Repertoire may represent any style or period.
- Program may consist of large works, or any combination of shorter movements.
- Performers must be prepared to briefly discuss their program selections.
Competition Rules:
- Applicants may audition in person or with a DVD.
- Duos are encouraged to apply, but both musicians must participate in the entire program. If selected, each member of the duo will receive $600.
- Applicants must be available to participate in the Winners Recital Tour.
- Solo performances must be memorized. Duos may use music.
- DVD applications must include the entire program.
Application Fees and Deadlines: There is no application fee.

Live audition and DVD audition applications must be received by January 1, 2012. DVD must be received by January 15, 2012.
