120th Annual MMTA Convention

June 9-11, 2019 Crowne Plaza AiRE Bloomington MN

Featuring Guest Artists
Brian Chung, Dr. Nicholas Susi, Dr. Paul Wirth

We are excited to announce that the 2019 MMTA Convention will feature three guest artists:  Brian Chung, Dr. Nicholas Susi, and Dr. Paul Wirth.

Brian Chung, Senior Vice President of Kawai America, a warm and inspiring speaker, will deliver the keynote address and offer two sessions focusing on improvisation skills for the classically trained pianist.

Dr. Nicholas Susi, Assistant Professor of Music at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, will present a recital on Monday evening. Dr. Susi was our classical piano master class clinician at last year's convention.  His artistry has been recognized through prizes in such piano competitions as the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Award, the Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition, and Klavierfestival Rosrath.

Dr. Paul Wirth is a prominent figure in the national piano teaching community and a beloved member of MMTA.  He will be the classical piano master class clinician and will deliver a presentation entitled "Teaching Musicality!" His unique combination of masterful performing and teaching, along with a sense of humor and unassuming personality have made him a much sought-after featured artist and we are excited to host him.

In addition, the convention schedule features 30+ workshop sessions on pedagogical and business topics.  Convention begins with two recitals on Sunday, June 9, and continues June 10-11 with two full days of sessions, master classes, and performances.
