Piano Contest and Piano Solo Festival NEW Information

November 17, 2020

This year the prerecorded virtual Piano Contest and Piano Solo Festival have some new rules and video submission deadline changes.

The students and teachers can make multiple recordings and submit their best take to the judge. The videos may not be edited.

At the time of the video submission, the student/teacher will be able to upload a PDF copy of their music and write a note to the judge if they wish to do so. There will be no advantage or disadvantage whether students/teachers submit a copy of their music score to the judge.

The Piano Contest and Piano Solo Festival registration deadline is December 1. You may register your students in any district at that time. You don't need to live in the Twin Cities to register for January 16 -17 virtual event or vice versa. After the registration deadline, December 1, no day or district changes are allowed.

TC Sat, TC Sun, C, NE, SE, SWM, SWNU, and WA districts will hold virtual prerecorded Contest Preliminary and Piano Solo Festivals.

  • Video submission deadlines for TC Sat will be January 16, 2021 (one week earlier)
  • Video submission deadlines for TC Sun will be January 17, 2021 (one week earlier)
  • Video submission deadlines for C/SWM/SWNU, NE, SE, WA will be January 30, 2021.  (This year only due to the virtual platform, the C, SWM, and SWNU districts will be grouped as one Greater MN district.)

NW district will hold in-person Piano Contest and Piano Solo Festival events. If the COVID-19 situation worsens, these in-person events may change to virtual prerecorded.
