2020 MMTA Honors Concert

The MMTA Board of Directors convened twice in the last week to discuss numerous items, including our many spring events and how recent developments affect our gatherings. The Board has voted, with very heavy hearts, to cancel the Honors Concert on June 13, 2020.  The Board is currently researching and considering alternative options that recognize, honor, and reward the students who were selected as winners in the 2020 state contest. Though new plans are not yet finalized, the Board will continue to update the membership as we move forward in developing alternatives.

MMTA Finals at the U of M Canceled

Dear MMTA Teachers,

As you know, our state piano contest finals have been scheduled this weekend at the U of MN Twin Cities campus in Ferguson Hall. MMTA takes the current virus situation very seriously, and the health of our students and their families is of utmost importance to us.

We have spent the last 48 hours having many extended discussions about how to proceed during these challenging times in order to best serve our students, from the standpoints of both physical health and safety as well as musical development.
